SURFING CONDITIONS ON THE GOLD COAST BEACHES

Reag's on the Beach

Surfing conditions have not been the friendliest on the Gold Coast beaches for the start of January 2015. A strong easterly swell & onshore winds are creating some dangerous rips and keeping Gold Coast City Council lifeguards very busy doing preventative rescues & in water rescues.

The surf conditions are not suitable for beginner surfers and we recommend all beginner surfers wait for the surf to settle. We do have some large sandbanks coming through that will provide some awesome waves when they connect with the shoreline and the swell size decreases.

Surfboard hire on the Gold Coast is currently only suitable for experienced surfers (January 2015). There are some great waves happening on the southern points, Snapper Rocks, Rainbow Bay, Greenmount, Kirra, Currumbin Alley and Burleigh Heads. Experienced surfers looking to hire a surfboard during this time should check out our performance range of surfboards and short boards for hire and go and join the crowds searching for the awesome ride.

I recently purchased a 7'2 Pro-Elite Funboard from Stuart Surfboards at Mermaid Beach. The guys at Stuart make awesome surfboards for the local conditions and are happy to offer advice on any surfboard. They have a wide range of surfboards to cater for all budgets and all levels of surfer.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY SURFING

Come surfing with us. If you are coming to the Gold Coast this September / October school holidays then you will have to go surfing.

We have Perfect conditions this time of year, with fun waves for beginner surfers from Main Beach, through Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach and all the way to Miami and Burleigh Heads.

Gold Coast Beginner Surfing Beaches

Whatever level of surfer you are the Gold Coast will always deliver a great surfing wave. Unfortunately it might not be right on your doorstep but if you are prepared to travel you will find the best waves.

Currently if you head north to the Southport Spit you will find some nice sand banks and some fun waves. The Spit is always better when you get out, the left hand wave of the wall and and off the pumping jetty is good on the mid tide. At the southern end of the open beach there is a nice bank formed against the rock headland at Miami, there is not a lot of swell around but hit this bank on the high tide and you will get some waves.

If you keep heading south check out Currumbin (The Alley), this is the most popular learn to surf beach on the Gold Coast and is perfect to catch nice slow moving white waves that can run for up to 100 metres. The next pick is either Greenmount or Rainbow Bay, hits these breaks when the southerly wind is blowing and you will have perfect offshore conditions all day. Definitely worth the effort for a surf or day trip if you are staying around Broadbeach or Surfers Paradise.

Surfboard Rental is not always easy at these locations, they're are some shops that have some beginner boards but they are not right on the beach. SURFBOARD HIRE PRICING IN SURFERS PARADISE

So you are coming to the Gold Coast, you are going to want to surf, but how much will it cost to hire a surfboard?? or can I even hire a decent short board or mini mal?? Or should I pay the extra luggage cost, bring my own board and risk having it damaged in flight??

At Surfboard Hire Gold Coast  we have a fair and simple pricing structure.

Hire a surfboard for 1 day (24 hours) - $50
Hire a surfboard for 2 days (48 hours) - $70
Each extra consectutive day - $10

So if you want to rent a surfboard in Surfers Paradise for 5 days it will cost $100, or if you want it for 1 week the price would be $120. We believe these are the cheapest and best prices on the Gold Coast, especially because we will deliver your rental surfboard to your accommodation free of charge.

So what you need to consider is - how much extra does it cost to bring your surfboard on the plane, chances are on a return flight and a one week holiday it will be cheaper to hire your surfboard from us.
