1st Wave Surf School Gold Coast is the premier surf school operating on the northern Gold Coast beaches. Located at the Main Beach Surf lifesaving club only 5 minutes drive north of Surfers Paradise or 1 hour south from Brisbane.
1st Wave Surf School Gold Coast utilises the awesome surfing waves created by the Narrowneck artificial reef and the every changing sand banks and surf conditions in the Main Beach area. Main Beach is an open beach break which generally provides better surfing waves in the morning before the onshore winds blow up in the afternoon.
Surfing lessons are held during the morning with the preferred lesson schedule being private surfing lessons at 7.30am and a group beginner learn to surf lesson at 10am. Private lessons are 1st class and the chosen option for individual, couples, families and small groups that want that little bit extra attention or for progressive surfers to fine tune their skills. The group learn to surf lesson at 10am is great fun and the perfect introduction to surfing. During this 2 hour lesson you will be provided with all the equipment and spend most of the time in the surf learning how to catch waves and stand up. The goal of a beginner learn to surf lesson is for you to stand up and surf a wave.

1st Wave Surf School Gold Coast also provides stand up paddle (SUP) boarding experiences at Narrowneck. This awesome location has a surfing beach on one side of the road and a cal water river on the other side. This makes it the perfect location to surf and SUP all in the one location. Stand up paddle lessons, tours and hire are available in the afternoon. For the ultimate day out join us for our surf and sup experience. This amazing experience offers an introduction to surfing and a stand up paddle intro and tour. All equipment is provided plus snacks, fresh fruit and drinks and the total time required is approx 4 hours. At he end of this session you will have learnt surf, stand up paddle boarded amongst the surfers paradise high-rises, relaxed with wild birds at the bird reserve, chilled out on the Gold Coast beaches and achieved and all round body tingling experience that will be remembered as the best activity you did on the Gold Coast.

1st Wave Surf School Gold Coast is the Gold Coast City Council licensed surf school for the Main Beach area and is the closest surf school to Brisbane, the northern Gold Coast suburbs and the 2018 Commonwealth Games village. The preferred surf lesson location is at the Southport Surf Lifesaving Club, opposite 3645 Main Beach Parade, Main Beach.
Surfing Lessons are available daily and bookings are required with at least 24 hours notice. For Last minute bookings please phone the surf school and they will try to fit you into a lesson.
